The Wayne’s World soundtrack was one of my three favorite movie soundtracks as a kid (along with Coneheads and The Crow, which is still my favorite soundtrack album). So when Tia Carrere released a full-length album, it was a shut up and take my money situation. And then I listened to it and just went, “what the hell is this?” I still contend she could have made major bank if she had capitalized on Wayne’s World and released a rock album, and she has a fantastic voice for rock.
Not trying to trash-talk Tia or anything (and she’s apparently found a musical niche, winning a couple Grammies for Hawaiian music), just that I coincidentally had this exact thought the other day and this reminded me of it.
